Here’s our story

From humble beginnings as a little general store in the sugar‑cane fields of Spreckelsville in 1933, Sam Sato’s has grown into a Maui institution. Founded by Sam Sato, his mother Mite and his wife Glady, the shop first moved to Puʻunēnē in 1963, where it blossomed into a full‑fledged restaurant. Two decades later it found a new home in Wailuku, and in 1993 it settled into its current spot on Wili Pa Loop.

Through every move and every generation, one thing has never changed: this is still a family‑run kitchen where recipes and smiles are passed down like precious heirlooms. We’ve been serving dry mein, BBQ sticks and plate lunches to Maui’s working families and hungry visitors for nearly a century. Come and be part of our story.

At Sam Sato’s, a good meal isn’t extra, it’s essential. Swing by for takeout or settle in for a quick bite, and let us handle the flavor while you handle the rest.

Sam Sato's

At Sam Sato’s we’re honored to feed the island we call home and those who wander here. We want your time with us to be remembered not just for the friendly faces, but for the unforgettable flavors that linger long after you’ve left the table.
